The members of the Poteau Police Department are proud to serve the citizens of Poteau and to be a part of the exciting opportunities in our city. Our Police Department serves the community with a sworn force of officers and civilian personnel, as well as maintaining the City's Emergency Management and 9-1-1 programs. The Police Department budget is in excess of million dollars annually and is the largest budget in the city, an indication of the commitment by city leaders toward quality law enforcement and to public safety. The department provides communication services to city police, fire and emergency medical services as well as volunteer fire departments and law enforcement agencies throughout all of LeFlore County.
We are structured to support three (3) different shifts of uniformed patrol operations and also maintain aCriminal Investigation Division, a Narcotics Investigation Unit and the Animal Control/Shelter Service. The Police Department utilizes a strong Reserve Officer Program and we are continually in debt to the men and women of our community who give freely of their time and resources to support our mission. The men and women of the Poteau Police Department welcome you to Poteau. Sincerely, B. J. Smith Chief of Police |
